Director, Senior Counsellor

Sabina Larsen

Kia Ora,

My name is Sabina, I am registered as an ACC provider and I have a membership with NZCCA. I have worked as a counselor for over 6 years and I have experience in working with people from all walks of life who are dealing with a wide range of issues.

I am originally from Zimbabwe and I have been living in New Zealand for the last 13 years. I am open-minded and curious to listen and learn about my client’s world views, identity, and culture person-centered counseling, acceptance, treatment therapy, CBT, and DBT. I use solution-focused trauma intervention. I provide some psychoeducation in all areas where appropriate and I always want the best for my clients.

I work together with the client to build their strength, resilience, and emotional wellbeing. After developing new skills, my clients find themselves feeling more settled and motivated to find solutions to their problems.

Administrator

Chante Josephs

My name is Chante Josephs. I am a South African and have been living in New Zealand for the last 3 and a half years. I have always worked in the medical/health industry and have experience in different sectors of this industry.

I am the administrator for the organization and love interacting with people. As being the first point of contact for the organization, I believe you need to have a positive attitude and a welcoming personality. I enjoy challenges and see them as stepping stones.

Outside of the office, I enjoy being outdoors and love spending time with my family.

Counsellor

Brigid Devcich

I have a diploma in counseling. I am a mother of 8 children (tamariki) and soon to be 7 grandchildren (mokopunas).

I feel privileged to journey creatively with individuals as they discover their strengths and develop courage, resilience, and find hope.

I believe person-centered care is very important. I have experience with people affected by anxiety, depression/sadness, parenting issues, post-natal depression, stress, workplace issues, burnout, trauma-informed care, and family violence.

What can you expect from me – confidentiality, to be treated with respect, collaborative care (working together), and a non-judgmental listening ear.

Counsellor

Robert Nelson

My name is Robert Nelson and I am from Wellington originally. I have recently returned to New Zealand after having spent most of my life overseas, and am married with children. My journey working in the mental health field began 12 years ago.  Prior to that, I have enjoyed separate careers in both music and sales.
I have NZAC Provisional Membership. My approach in counseling is person-centered, meaning that therapy is based around what the client discusses in session and that focuses and goals for personal growth arise organically from these discussions. I firmly believe there is hope in almost all difficult situations, and that positive change is within each individual’s power. I am a trained depth psychological therapist, which means that I will often use myth, legend, and archetypes as a way to understand what clients may be experiencing, and to help us identify the personal journey of the client by studying the markers of where they have been, where they are, and to help imagine how their lives can be different.

I also utilize acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive-behavioral and motivational interviewing in session, and provide my clients with psychoeducation to help them develop useful tools to address their problems. I have worked with substance use disordered individuals, individuals with dual diagnosis concerns, bipolar, and major depressive disorders, life transitions, self-esteem, suicidality, anxiety, personality disorders, trauma and grief.

I look forward to meeting you where you are at, and getting to know how best to deal with your concerns in a non-judgmental, safe and supportive therapeutic space.

I enjoy working with people of different backgrounds and helping create a difference in whatever way possible
